Katherina Doherty established BEACON Psychology, a private practice in Quinns Rocks. She has over 20 years’ experience across diverse fields of mental health. With a strong interpersonal focus, Katherina uses effective, evidence-based therapy to help people adapt and develop healthy coping in a safe, non-judgemental environment. Katherina has a warm and supportive approach, recognising the central importance of the therapeutic relationship as a key driver of change in therapy.
In recent years Katherina has worked as a Psychologist for clients of major resource companies in Perth CBD and across remote communities in the Pilbara. She understands the impacts of FIFO and remote living on relationships and families. Previously employed with Relationships Australia, she enjoys supporting couples to address negative cycles in relationship and build emotional connection. Katherina is an advocate for mental health prevention through her work with community-based mental health services and interagency work for the National Drugs Strategy in Ireland. She has published reports in her role as Evaluator for the European Social Fund and has research and clinical interest in parental mental health.
Katherina uses proven effective treatments, such as cognitive behaviour therapy for anxiety, depression, sleep difficulties and trauma-related disorders; interpersonal therapy for depression, loss and adjustment; and emotion-focused therapy for relationships. Individual treatment plans respond flexibly to client needs.
The mother of two children, Katherina enjoys living beside our wonderful coast and the outdoor lifestyle.
